Drones
Camera-equipped drones are a great alternative to farm vehicles to do tasks, such as:
- property inspections and assessments
- mapping and surveying
- crop-dusting and spraying
- checking on fences, dams and stock
- weed control, and,
- mustering.
Flying drones at work
- The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requires all operators flying a drone for work to hold a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) operator accreditation. The operator accreditation you need will depend on how much your drone weighs.
- You must also register your drone with CASA online before you can fly. Registration is free and valid for 12 months.
- Go to www.casa.gov.au for more information.
