Quad bikes and SSV training
Anyone using a quad bike or side-by-side vehicle (SSV) at work must have adequate information, training, instruction and supervision to safely operate and maintain the vehicle as well as understand the risks associated with using these vehicles.
Quad bike and SSV training is important
In NSW there are specific laws about the information, training and instruction that you must provide your workers to help them remain healthy and safe in the workplace.
As their employer, you’re responsible for ensuring your workers are properly trained and instructed on how to do their work safely. This includes quad bike and SSV training.
Head to the SafeWork NSW Training and orienting workers page for more information on training and your work health and safety obligations.
Nationally accredited training is available
One day nationally recognised quad bike (AHCMOM217 Operate quad bikes) and SSV (AHCMOM216 Operate side-by-side utility vehicles) training courses are available through multiple training organisations for a fee, and aim to develop knowledge and skills in:
- the safe operation of quad bikes and SSVs
- undertaking pre-start and shut-down procedures
- carrying out routine checks and maintenance.
Search the following course names to locate training providers:
